sPECIFICATIONS
Timber
The majority of the main framework of our hutches is made from planed (smooth, no splinters) Scandanavian Redwood Pine, which is ideal. For the exterior paneling of our hutches we use 12mm Scandanavian Redwood T&G Shiplap cladding (not cheaper whietwood or deal)
wire
We use a minimum hot dipped galvanised 19 guage 0.5” x 0.5” galvanised weldmesh wire that will keep your rabbit in and unwanted guests out. As a rule we do not add mesh floor to runs but can do so on request (at additional cost)
Floors / roofs
Floors are made of hardy exterior grade plywood ensuring long life. Roofs are overhanging and covered with heavy mineral felt or rubber to ensure a strong water tight interior
ironmongery
We use absolutely no plastic fitting on our hutches. For rabbit runs and hutch doors we use 100mm T-Hinges. Turn buttons are cast iron. When our hutch and run panels are made we use heavy 2.1mm galvanised ring shank nails. For added security we can supply you with additional door hasps or latches.
colour / treatment
All our hutches are red cedar in colour and every product that leaves our workshop has bee dipped in a pet friendly preservative that will not harm you rabbit in any way. Although our hutches do hold there colour well, withstanding all weathers we do recommend that you re-treat your hutch preferably twice yearly. Particularly before wet and winter months. As part of our range we can supply you with tubs of our pet friendly red cedar preservative. (many of the preservatives available on the high street can be highly toxic to small animals.)
